Deerfield-Plantation is a working plantation located in the heart of South Carolina's Low country "Deerbelt." It's most well-known for its' deer hunting opportunities. The plantation works corn, soybeans, peas, wheat, oats and rye, and offers 300 permanent deer stands in two main hunting areas. The stands are placed in highly active deer areas and there are 80 shooting houses, most overlooking the agricultural fields, food plots and feeding stations. If you stay at Deerfield Station, your day will begin about an hour and a half before sunrise with a continental breakfast. An experienced guide will take you to your stand before the morning hunt. You will then be picked up between 10:00 and 11:00, depending on the time of year, you and taken back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, the afternoon hunt begins between 2:00 and 4:00. You may then hunt until dark. A guide will once again pick you up to take you to the lodge for the evening meal. Deerfield Plantation follows the guidelines and recommendations of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, The Quality Deer Management Association, and our own independent biologist.

Deerfield Plantation Weather & Climate

Northeastern South Carolina ,in the coastal plain, has terrain that is mostly flat, and the average elevation is 140 feet above sea level. The combination of low elevation, relatively low latitude and warm Gulf stream from the Atlantic Ocean, combines to create a climate with warm, humid summers and short, mild winters. Afternoon thunderstorms are common in the summer and sometimes in the autumn. Hail and damaging winds often occur along with the summer thunderstorms. Tornadoes are uncommon unless a tropical cyclone is present. Precipitation is abundant throughout the entire year, and the coastline tends to have a slightly wetter summer. Hurricanes are a threat along the coast of South Carolina with the typical season running June through November. However, plenty of warning is generally given for these types of storms.
